I RECOMMEND YOU ... A FILM

I love cinema but not all kinds of films. I prefer European and South American movies to North American ones that's why I usually watch French, British, Spanish-Catalan, Argentinian ... films. This doesn't mean that I never watch a North American movie; for example last week I bought the film Revolutionary Road, starring Leonardi Di Caprio and Kate Winslet, and I think it is extraordinary, outstanding Di Caprio's superb performance.
The film I'd like to recommend is The Secret Life of Words by the catalan film director Isabel Coixet. Maybe you've already seen it as it isn't a première. ( released in 2005 ). I recommend not only the plot but also the music ( Anthony and the Johnsons ).

LEONARD COHEN: PAST AND PRESENT

Leonard Cohen was born in 1934 in in Westmount Montreal, Quebec ( Canada) , into a middle-class Jewish family. He's a singer-songwriter, musician, poet and novelist. He's still alive.

A SPECIAL SONG

Among all my favourite songs, there is a special one, the same way there is always a special person or a special place. It's Suzanne by Leonard Cohen. The first time I listened to it I was about 15. A friend had given an LP by Leonard Cohen to one of my elder sisters and I listened to it secretly. Soon I realised L. Cohen's songs made me feel something new I had never felt before and since then he has been one of my favourite singers. Now he is 76.

What's a log? And a blog? A blog is a ( we )b+log. Is that clear now?
According to the Oxford Concise English Dictionary a log is an official record of events during the voyage of a ship or aircraft ( also logbook ). Adapted to present days, a blog is a type of website usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or videos ( wikipedia ). I invite you to have your own English blog where you'll include commentaries, opinions, descriptions, feelings, videos... ; some will be compulsory and some optional and it will be on until June 2011. Hope you keep it up-dated since at the end of each term I'm going to evaluate your blogs and give it a mark.
